Projects
“Science belongs to no one country.”~ Louis Pasteur
Projects that are co-ordinated by the foundation follow the BS6079 stardard for project management. Since BS6079 is a UK national and international standard, it is an appropriate choice to follow in respect to project management. It allows national and international projects to be regulated by the standards set by the international project management association (IPMA). This way we can all ”talk the same language’ regardless of geographical location.

The most important single element within BS6079 is the strategic project plan (SPP). This provides a structure for organising and monitoring any project, irrespective of location or industry. It is a form of generic framework that can be moved from project to project, providing the basic structural elements for building a project plan for each separate project. The idea is that, by using this approach, project managers will all set up projects in the same way using the same basic framework. Strategic project plans will all become compatible and direct comparisons of performance will be possible.
The Epsilon Project Management System (PMS) is intended to provide a framework for project evolution. The focus is defining stages and the objectives for each stage. They include

The Epsilon PMS provides for the decomposition of a project into logical and manageable units and processes covering:
- project objectives,
- quality control,
- risk management,
- time and scheduling,
- cost,
- organisation, and
- adminsitration and logistics.
The Epsilon Foundation has several projects of which it oversees and administers. The foundation has 2 classes of projects; minor and major, and its own programmes and initiatives. Project classes carry different weight in terms of strategic importance, quality, costs and time.
All projects have a finite life cycle. All programmes and initiatives are said to be indefinate.
